Intern - Production

Note: This is an unpaid intern position, approximately 10-24 hours per week. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. We are flexible on the days of the week and the times of the shifts. The end date is flexible but we require a minimum time commitment of 3 months.

Join KCTS 9 to work on one weekly half-hour show and other stories. The New KCTS 9 Connects with Enrique Cerna is a weekly exploration of news, politics and culture in the Pacific Northwest.  

Purpose:

Provide support to a team of producers in story conception, development, research and production.

Educational Benefit:

Intern will be involved from pre-production to post-production and work directly with the producers, editors, and cameramen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Locate and catalogue archive footage and photographs

2. Research various topics in preparation for interviews

3. Log tapes of interviews

4. Assist with field shoots as needed

5. Edit interviews for the internet

6. Develop an understanding of copyright issues, how to obtain clearance, and the basics of fair use law

7. Research and write web content for shows

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED

2. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an educational degree program

3. Experience with Microsoft Office

4. Proficiency in conducting internet research, including archival searches required

5. Attention to detail, excellent organization, and communication skills required

5. A curiosity and familiarity with the Pacific Northwest and current events preferred

6. Interest in broadcast or public affairs preferred
