Community-supported public television station KYVE is the sister station of KCTS/Seattle. KYVE serves Central Washington, a region with a population of more than 250,000 residents, including Kittias and Yakima counties, and part of Benton County.

One of the smallest stations in the public broadcasting system, KYVE is located on the campus of Yakima Valley Community College and serves one of the most rapidly growing Hispanic populations in the country.

Signing on air in 1962, KYVE was licensed to the Yakima School District until 1984 when the station became a community licensee. KYVE's broadcast future was secured in September 1994, with a merger with KCTS/Seattle.

Local KYVE productions include Northwest Outdoors, a weekly series covering outdoor adventures from salmon fishing on the Columbia to bungee jumping in Canada; The Apple Bowl, a high-school quiz series; Instant Focus, short segments capturing the essence of Central Washington; and artist profiles and various specials throughout the year.

A brand new digital-ready antenna located high atop Ahtanum Ridge on Yakima Tribal land enables KYVE to offer viewers stereo sound, a second audio program channel (SAP) and 24-hour programming for TCI Cablevision rs in Yakima.

For the convenience of shoppers in search of public television-related merchandise, KYVE operates a mini-store at the Homespun Crafters Mall.
