JANE FONDA
After tremendous success as a stage and screen actress, Jane Fonda is now focusing her efforts on community service. Much of her time is devoted to the program she founded in 1995, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (G-CAPP). Fonda chairs this statewide effort to reduce the high rate of adolescent pregnancy in Georgia. Fonda has long been known for activism and advocacy for the environment, human rights and the empowerment of women and girls.
In this in-studio interview, Fonda joins KCTS Connects' Enrique Cerna for a conversation about her global efforts to help teenage girls, her impressive acting career and her life in this new millennium. Jane Fonda is in Seattle this week to speak at a Planned Parenthood Luncheon. (The luncheon is sold out.)

Governor Gary Locke has declared a drought emergency in Washington State saying this is the worst rainfall shortage the state has seen since 1977. The water district in Victoria, British Columbia has declared a water emergency also, saying they too are officially in a drought.
The city's small reservoir is at approximately 55% of optimum level. This water shortage will affect all aspects of life in BC including Victoria's tourism industry, which features its lovely gardens.
There are a dozen municipalities around B.C. and they all apply water rules differently, which can create tensions. B.C. hydro generates all its electricity from hydroelectric power, and they have already put out a warning regarding possible power shortages. By midsummer, they may be buying electricity. Some critics say they sold too much power last year and should have kept some for British Columbians.

Did the media overly emphasize black-on-white attacks in their coverage of the melee? Did a media presence further fan the fires of violence?
