What is Digital Television (DTV)?

After February 17, 2009, all full power television stations will broadcast exclusively via a digital signal, replacing the traditional analog format that has been used since TV’s inception. This is important news for KCTS 9 viewers, so we want to ensure you are prepared.

DTV will revolutionize your viewing experience by giving you the opportunity to enjoy more channels and better picture quality at no extra cost. Digital TV offers four different KCTS 9 channels:

  • KCTS 9 DT, our original primary channel, now in clear, digital format.
  • KCTS 9 Create, the best in lifestyle and how-to programming.
  • KCTS 9 HD, high-definition and other wide-screen public television programming.
  • KCTS 9 V-Me: The quality and integrity of public television, en español.

Make sure you're prepared!
If you receive your TV signal by antenna on an analog set, you will need to take some simple steps to continue receiving broadcast signals after February 2009.   • Your TV tuner is: Analog
  • You get your programming from: Over-the-air
  • You will need by Feb. 17, 2009: Digital-to-Analog converter box, a new set or subscription to cable or satellite service. Click here for details.

  • Your TV tuner is: Analog
  • You get your programming from: Cable or Satellite
  • You will need by Feb. 17, 2009: Most likely nothing.You may wish to contact your provider.*

  • Your TV tuner is: Digital
  • You get your programming from: Over-the-air
  • You will need by Feb. 17, 2009: Nothing

  • Your TV tuner is: Digital
  • You get your programming from: Cable or Satellite
  • You will need by Feb. 17, 2009: Most likely nothing.You may wish to contact your provider.*

*Most cable and satellite providers already utilize digital signals and will continue to serve customers through the digital transition, though you may require additional equipment or service to receive the digital signal.

CANADIAN? The U.S. digital television transition will not change how you view KCTS 9.
